In today’s teaching, Pastor Habib taught on “Obedience, the Catalyst for Advancement”. He started off by defining Obedience as, the willing and timely alignment of one’s actions to an instruction, authority, or truth without resistance or delay. It goes beyond mental agreement; it is a heart response and alignment that requires a purged spirit.
He further expressed that “true obedience” is characterized by being willful, prompt, and delightful.
He then highlighted the reasons why we must obey.
- Disobedience is very costly
- Disobedience is a sin; anything that is against the will of God
- Disobedience is personal, it is not private; the outcome or consequence of which will still be public
Pastor Habib then stressed that, “positive results are not validation of God’s involvement.”
Furthermore, he highlighted “who or what to obey”.
- God’s word, instructions, command
- God’s word through his messengers
- Parents
- Governing Authorities
He then concluded his teaching with an enlightenment on the secret of obedience; “Humility”, and four things that humility helps you to assume:
- Helps you to forsake old approach to a new one
- Helps you to be teachable and instructible
- it makes you open to learning
- it makes you moldable
