In this message, Pastor Timi Opelami started out from 2 Timothy 1:3-7 teaching us that God has not giving us the spirit of fear. He gave the context to which Paul wrote this letter to Timothy because Timothy pastored at such a turbulent time. Regardless of what circumstances look like, fear is external to a believer. Our spirit man cannot produce fear, but can be oppressed by fear if we allow it. We saw how that just like faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:16), the first stop of fear to christians is the feeling. The point is to stem it at that level. He added that fear is the forerunner of this devil. Giving fear a foothold means allowing it become a stronghold.
Essentially, we learnt that fear is a spirit, rebuke it. Don’t speak fear, rather voice out God’s word over what you feel (Proverbs 18:8; Romans 10:6-10). Furthering, Pastor Timi Opelami highlighted three areas to exercise Boldness:
- Boldness towards God: (1John 3:20-21; Ephesians 3:12; Hebrews 4:16; 1 John 5:14).
- Boldness to pursue our God’s given assignment ( Mark 3:14).
- Boldness towards the devil (Ephesians 4:27).
In addition to that, Pastor Timi mentioned two ways to maintain the spirit of boldness: - The strength of your conviction: This will make you step out to act boldly(Acts 4:20, Colossians 3:17).
- Stir up the gift of God.
